Taj Hotels and TISS starts 3 years Bachelor of vocation in Hotel Management (B.Voc) degree


TAJ HOTELS Palaces Resorts Safaris in association with Tata Institute of Social Sciences’ School of Vocational Education (T.I.S.S.-SVE), brings the Golden Threshold Programme for students wanting to work in the hospitality industry. The educational programme will offer hospitality training to students in the age group of 17-21 years, with a focus on rendering job-specific skills, which will increase their chances of getting a secure job and thus, a better future.
Taj believes in vocational skilling and has trained about 4,000 people in hospitality over the last six years via Taj’s Skill Certification Centers. Golden Threshold Program is a step in increasing skilled professionals for the industry.
Taj, a global hospitality brand and TISS will train students to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in India’s growing hospitality industry. With the aggregate lodging requirement in India being almost 1.4 million beds each night, the sector has a potential to create six million jobs.  While TISS has designed the syllabus, experienced professionals from the Taj will conduct the job-based skill training. Students will be reviewed at regular intervals through practical assessments and performance appraisals.

Taj & TISS Golden Threshold Admission Process
Interested students need to submit their application form at Taj Hotels email ID mentioned above. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview round.
Application process for the Golden Threshold course would take place in June and classes would commence in July.  

Taj & TISS Golden Threshold Programme Details
Classes for this new hospitality programme will be conducted at TISS campus and the on-the-job training will be offered at Taj Hotels in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
On successful completion of one year of the course, candidates will receive a Diploma whereas a higher diploma will be given on completion of two years of the programme. Aspirants who complete three years of the course would get Bachelor of Vocation (BVoc) in Hotel Management degree. The BVoc degree offered on completion of three years of the course is approved by MHRD, Government of India, University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

 The Requirements and Highlights of this Programme

TISS (SVE) will confer a B.Voc degree upon satisfactory completion of the six-semester course.
TISS (SVE) and Taj will cover the cost of tuition for selected candidates and help defray expenses.
Deserving students will be offered career placements with Taj Hotels upon graduation.
Candidates selected for this programme will have an outgoing personality, a service orientation and fluency in English.
The degree does not require any bond and students are free to pursue any available opportunities.
The Seats are reserved on the basis of the Reservation Policy mentioned below-

15% for SC
5% for ST
27% for OBC
